Hi, Everyone, and WELCOME! :O) ... On April 28th, 2005, I was implanted with a "Bionic Ear" from Advanced Bionics! My activations will be on June 7th, 9th, and 16th! I created this blog so I could share my experiences with all of you, as well as keep a record of them for myself! I hope you enjoy reading about them -- thanks for sharing this incredible miracle with me! :O)

I was born with Congenital Rubella Syndrome, which caused numerous physical and emotional challenges for me -- one of them being my hearing impairment. Although my loss of hearing was gradual throughout my life (I got my first hearing aid at age 13), it declined significantly for me approximately 8 yrs ago when I was around 30. Since then, I've had a severe-profound level hearing loss, and have struggled to learn ASL ... trying hard to fit in with the deaf community or the hearing world, but feeling frustrated that I fit into neither. So, now, with the miracle of the CI technology -- I have much hope that I will once again learn to hear well enough to connect with the hearing world!
